RYA
Sailing School - Overview
Wetstuff
are a recognised training centre for the RYA and as such are authorised
to run RYA courses. The RYA is considered to be the best in the
world for sail training and we are very proud of our recognition.
The RYA’s
sail cruising programme is for those wanting to start cruising,
or to
expand
their cruising
knowledge.
It encourages high standards of seamanship and navigation in pursuit
of the RYA’s belief that a system of voluntary education
is more likely to achieve higher standards of safety than legislation
to control and regulate our sport.
The programme comprises a series of practical courses which are
complemented by navigation and other specialist short courses.
You can enjoy them simply to increase your knowledge and confidence,
or use them as a progression to the RYA/MCA Certificates of Competence
which are recognised by maritime authorities worldwide.
Most courses take place over five days, or a couple of weekends.
By taking your course at Wetstuff, a RYA Recognised Training Centre,
you can expect to be taught by an experienced, qualified instructor
on board a seaworthy boat with a maximum of five trainees. We pick
and train our instructors with great care; very few who try, make
Wetstuff instructors. Courses can be taken either onboard the school
boat or your own boat.

You can enter the RYA
programme at any level, provided that you have the correct level
of experience beforehand. Be realistic when assessing your current
experience and abilities. At Symphony Sailing, we are very happy
to discuss your requirements before booking any course, after all
we are here to help and advise.
The RYA Programme is structured with theory and practical
sailing courses with supporting short courses such
as First Aid, Diesel Engine, VHF Radio (SRC) and Sea Survival.
Details of RYA courses can be found in the menu on
the left.
